LASAGNA INSTRUCTIONS:
Ok, so here’s how to make healthy gluten free lasagna your family will love! First of all, grab a 9×13 inch pan. I love the 9×13 Pyrex Pan with a lid! Once the lasagna is done cooling, pop that lid on and place it in the refrigerator and you’re done!
With today’s crazy store prices, I initially love to save money by making a pit stop at Aldi! Usually, it’s quick and easy to get in and out, especially if you have a shopping list made up.
The Simply Nature Organic products came from Aldi (pasta sauce and ground beef). The Mature cheddar cheese came from Aldi. I used half a block of this rich, Irish cheese. Also, feel free to use all of it if you want more!
Moving on…there is a Wegmans grocery store close to us in Virginia. It’s a tad bit pricier, but it has tons of gluten free options, which I love! The yellow lentil noodles and ricotta cheese came from there. However, if you do not have Wegmans, check out these Jovial Organic Gluten Free Brown Rice Lasagna Noodles from Amazon!
1. Ok, here’s what to do first: add olive oil to the pan (just so the meat doesn’t stick). Place one pound of ground beef into your pan and cook until brown. Add spices like garlic powder to the beef. While the meat is browning, start making the ricotta mixture.
2. In a separate bowl, add: one 32 oz tub of ricotta, one egg, sea salt and more garlic powder to taste, chopped parsley and cilantro (as much or little as you like), and about 1/4 cup of shredded Mature cheddar cheese. Mix well and set aside.
3. Now, add one jar of organic pasta sauce to your browned meat and carefully stir. I used a 23.5 oz jar. I think you can eye-ball it too! Set this aside and then grab your glass pan.
4. Spoon a tiny bit of your meat sauce over the bottom. Next, use your oven ready lasagna noodles (I used three sheets for one layer). Spread that lovely ricotta cheese over the noodles.
Repeat the meat sauce process again and again until you run out! There were about four or five layers added to this lasagna. Top off with more shredded cheddar cheese, sea salt, parsley and cilantro.
Then, stick it in the oven for about 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to health precautions, do not cover with foil until you pull lasagna out of the oven. Foil helps keep it warm before serving it. Last, but not least…Enjoy!!
Finally, what to serve with this healthy gluten free lasagna your family will love? Try some homemade sourdough bread! I like to use the Breadtopia dry sourdough starter packet. Here’s a video for example, showing you exactly how to work with a dry sourdough starter. Did you know, sourdough bread is also super healthy to eat?! It’s great for your gut! Yum…can I have more sourdough bread, please?
