A Visit To The Famous Cherry Blossoms!
~Oh, What Beauty To Be Underneath The Cherry Trees~
Hello Spring!!
Let me tell you about my visit to the famous Cherry Blossoms! But first, Springtime is a time of joy! There’s just something about it that makes me feel renewed, refreshed and alive again! Do you feel that too? I love watching the little squirrels run across the street and play with each other. I love seeing the birds peck at seed on the bird feeder and sometimes at each other. 🙂 I love watching nature all together. What a wonderful, beautiful world God has created. There is so much to love and be thankful for! Having another day of life is also a special blessing. And, if you look for it, you’ll surely find God’s beauty all around you.
Spring also brings renewed beginnings. Such as new life! Trees bud and show off their attractive blooms after a hard, cold, winter season. Momma and baby birds chirp sounds of Heaven in them on cloudy, or warm, sunny days. I just love Spring and all it brings with it!
One highlight I look forward to every year is a visit to the famous Cherry Blossoms! A drive to Washington, D.C. has become like an annual routine for me and Kevin. Yes, it is extremely busy around this time of year! Trying to find parking can be somewhat of a bear, but once you do, the trees are totally worth seeing! If you wait too long, the buds will disappear. They only stay on the trees for a couple of weeks, if the weather is nice. Most of the Cherry Trees have a pale pink or white hue color. They’re just so beautiful and fluffy in their peak season.
How to prepare for a trip to see the Cherry Blossoms? Well…bring great walking shoes! You’ll need them, of course. Also, if you’re travelling from quite a distance away, plan to soak in their beauty for most of the day! You’ll never run out of things to do or see in D.C.! Start your day off early. Parking is like gold! Otherwise, plan to walk a distance, back to your vehicle. It is also a bit chilly this time of year, so you may want to bring a cute jacket. Look cute, because pictures are a must!! Literally, cameras are everywhere! My husband and I saw a girl shivering in her cute outfit, while having her picture taken. Yes, it’s that important…!
So how are these Cherry Trees so famous, you may ask?! Long ago in 1909, a famous Japanese chemist offered around 2,000 Cherry Trees as a symbol of friendship. Our first lady, Helen Herron Taft, accepted them! Once the trees arrived in 1910, they were smitten with bugs. Yikes! President William Taft had to give his consent to destroy them. However, the famous chemist, Takamine sent an even larger donation of Cherry Trees (around 3,020) to make up for what occurred with the others. When the Cherry Trees finally arrived on March, 1912, they were in perfect condition! Check this site out for more detailed information. Such a cool story!
Now for a short, spiritual thought: have you ever thought about your life being like a blossom? It’s beautiful, but short. Making a difference in life may be challenging, but necessary! What can you do to come through for someone else? Have you ever thought about someone needing you? It’s true, because someone does!
It’s easy to think about me, me, me all of the time, but someone needs you. Someone needs you to ask how their day went or if they need anything. Someone needs you to simply love them, because they may be going through a lot of challenges. Remember, someone needs your friendship and care. Someone needs your bright spirit to shine through like the Cherry Blossom buds!
