Easter Blessings And A Time Of Reflection
Happy Easter &
Resurrection Sunday!!
I know I’m a couple of days off, but let’s count our Easter blessings and have a time of reflection. This day is so special and beautiful at the same time! Cute little bunnies and easter eggs are all such fun with memorable experiences, but I once heard Easter referred to as, “Resurrection Sunday!”
Why Resurrection Sunday?
Resurrection Sunday is a day of excitement, joy, hope, faith. Also, it is sacred, real, unfathomable, and utterly treasured! The day Jesus Christ died, was indeed a day of darkness. It was a bloody and horrible death of crucifixion. The Bible states that man couldn’t even recognize Jesus, as a man, after the fact. Many of His family and friends believed all hope was lost. Nothing could undo what had been done, so they thought.
Who could bring Jesus back from the dead now? He was supposed to be the Savior of the world! Family and friends knew Jesus Himself was the little Christ Child! A Christmas baby, born in a lowly stable, sent down from a perfect Heaven to man. God Himself, born in flesh, to save a world from eternal darkness and condemnation (Hell). Man couldn’t save himself from Hell, because man is just flesh and bones. Nothing immortal! Man needs a Savior. That “Savior” was supposed to be the Messiah and yet, now…He’s dead.
Jesus had died on the cross for the many sins of all mankind. You see, sin cannot enter a perfect Heaven. It’s like mixing dirt and pure, clean water. Who wants to drink that? These things don’t mix with a perfect, holy Heaven. Jesus (God in flesh) took the heavy burden of those sins upon Himself, because of love. Sins of hatred, murder, unbelief…even easy, simple sins, such as, frustration at someone or gossip. The Bible states, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23. Unfortunately, no one is exempt from sin. Not even me!
But, here’s where the really cool part comes into play! God loves you more than Himself! That is why He came as a Christ Child. He made a way to be free from Hell. By sending His son, Jesus (also God in flesh) to die on the cross and put those sins upon Himself. The ultimate sacrifice was death…for you and me! But, here’s the part about excitement, joy, hope and faith…Jesus didn’t stay dead! This is what Resurrection Sunday is all about! He resurrected and He’s alive in Heaven, because He is also God!
Have you seen a Resurrection on a regular basis? Who has the capability other than God? If Jesus didn’t rise from the grave, like He said He would, all our faith would be in vain. Clearly, He wouldn’t be God! We would have no hope of eternal life one day with Him, if He stayed dead.
You may be thinking, “ok, Victoria, this is really weird stuff! I’m not sure if I do or want to believe all of this!” Yes, I know it sounds out of the ordinary, but it’s the miraculous truth. However, if you don’t believe, there’s only one way to find out. Search the Scriptures and study for yourself. Find out if this is really real! I love my Creative Bible! It’s full of beautiful artwork~you can even color the pictures and make notes on the side!
Did you know…Jesus talked about His resurrection with his disciples before it even happened? Also, He was seen by over five hundred people after He had died and resurrected! Feel free to read about this in I Corinthians 15:1-11. How scary would that be!! Seeing a man die and then three days later, He’s walking around talking to people?! I would have been a little scared or curious, probably both!
Each of the end of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) cover Jesus’ trial, death and resurrection. Take a look and read about each of their takes on His death and resurrection. These four disciples of Jesus saw and experienced different things as they lived and wrote about them in the Gospels. If you have a Bible, I would highly recommend reading and reflecting on this beautiful resurrection story.
Undoubtedly, Jesus is calling after you through His love on the cross. There is room in Heaven for all who believe on Him. You just need a little faith and hope that He will be your Savior. Romans 10:9, 10, 13 states, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
