Are Really Not All Bad!!~
I use all of these items! 🙂 Having health issues has caused me to re-evaluate my everyday choices for the better! My goal, here, is to show you, there are better solutions! What you’ve always been accustomed to, is not always better or even healthier. Let me show you what I’ve learned, over time, about these five toxic items to nix and switch. They could possibly make or break you!
1. Coffee/Tea
Fortunately, I found out from a holistic doctor that coffee and tea have a significant amount of mold in them. Crazy huh?! I told my husband, Kevin, and he was not really thrilled to hear about this stuff. Usually, he drinks several cups of coffee a day! Did you know…mold can kill you?!? Yes, it really can! If you have enough of it in your body, it makes you feel aweful and even sick. It can also lead to many other health complications if you don’t take time to detox it out. So, I’ve spent the last few years nixing and switching my toxic coffee and tea over to organic and clean! My two favorites, so far, are Lifeboost & Purity. 2. Plastics
Out wow! Where do I even begin? Our society uses plastics for everything! I found out, I own plastic plates, cups, utensils, mixing bowls, measuring cups, measuring spoons, food storing containers, coffee maker reservoirs and pods, even women’s personal products (pads), etc. This list can go on…and on…! Just sit back for a minute and think of all the plastics you use on a daily basis. Scary!! Unfortunately, your body was not made to constantly consume plastic. It leaches dangerous chemicals! Toxic chemicals are used to keep plastic pliable. Not to mention what happens when heat is applied to these plastics. Try converting to glass products if you can. Pyrex and Anchor Hocking works well. If you can’t part with your plastic products, try keeping this rule in mind. Plastics with the numbers 1, 2, 4, & 5 on the bottom are usually BPA free. Plastic with the numbers 3, 6, & 7 usually contain BPA. Just keep in mind what you’re using on a daily basis. It can work wonders for your body!
3. Cooking Pans
These can be tricky! Non-stick is really not that healthy either. Again, think about chemicals leaching out while in use on the stove. It does happen! Sometimes you can even smell and see the smoke rising if your pan is too hot. Not good! I’ve been transitioning to Cast Iron & the Green Pan. I know some may not approve of the Green Pan, but it is a way better “non stick” option. It consists of ceramic coating, free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead and Cadmium! They are dishwasher safe, but I don’t use it, to prolong their life. The better brands are a little more expensive, but smart to invest in them! Williams Sonoma also carries the Green Pan~so worth the price! Cook healthier and feel better!
4. Makeup
There are so many different makeup brands out there! Which ones are non-toxic for your skin? Try to avoid chemicals and products that are bad for your skin. That’s the main goal here! Don’t buy makeup, just because it’s “cheap.” Invest in your body and good health! I once heard, “You should never put on your skin what you wouldn’t actually drink.” Whoa…quite the quote! That is because your body is a living organism! Your pores drink in whatever you put on your body, which eventually goes into your bloodstream. That is eye-opening for me, at least! So, to name a couple: Crunchi and Ilia have some great products to use. Take special care of the body God gave you! After all, you only have one!
5. Food
I love food!! Don’t you? Anyways, I would venture out to say about three-fourths of the food in Walmart is junk. I’m not kidding. Reading labels has been like a job for me and takes time. Just think of all the ingredients that you can’t even pronounce! That’s disturbing in and of itself. I’m pretty sure SUGAR, SOY, CANOLA/SUNFLOWER OIL, MALTODEXTRIN, SILICON DIOXIDE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, (one form or the other) is a main staple ingredient in most American junk food today. Why? How is this even right? You and I should be eating way cleaner than this! Did you know sugar actually breaks down your immune system? It’s just like a drug~leaving you to want more! Choose your food wisely! Start reading labels and looking up ingredients before buying an item. I really enjoy Simple Mills brand for a little snack. They taste great and have strict, healthy ingredients. Today, it seems as though too many people feel: sick, tired, run down, exhausted, etc. Could it be, how you and I are treating our bodies? Take pride and extra care, because you are priceless, special and beautiful!
